One of the easiest methods to treat the ingrown hairs is the scrub. Its main role is to remove the dead skin that usually gathers right next to the inflammation. We suggest you used simple and common ingredients that will have a good result.

Sugar

Put 1 cup of sugar together with ½ cup of olive oil and several drops of tea tree oil in a bowl and mix well. Apply the scrub on your skin and use your fingers to rub the area using circular motions. Remove the remedy with tepid water and repeat the procedure two times per week.

Black tea bags

Put a couple of black tea bags in a cup with tepid water and let them moist for 1-2 minutes. At this point apply them on your skin and rub gently for 3 minutes. Rinse your skin with plain water and repeat the process two times per day.

Salt

Dissolve 2 tbsp. of salt in 1 cup of water, then apply the composition on the ingrown hairs by using a cotton ball. Rub gently for 2 minutes and then rinse your skin with warm water. Follow the procedure twice every day.

Another type of easy remedies are the ones that you apply on your skin by dabbing with a cotton ball. There are two common ingredients you can use: apple cider vinegar and baking soda.

Apple cider vinegar

Dilute 2 tbsp. of apple cider vinegar in 4 tbsp. of water, then dip a cotton ball in the remedy and dab on the skin surface. Let the remedy action for 5 minutes, then remove it with tepid water.

Since apple cider vinegar has anti-bacterial properties it kills the bacteria that facilitates the hair to grow under the skin surface.

Baking soda

Prepare a composition by mixing well 1 cup of water with 1 tbsp. of baking soda. Dip a cotton pad in the remedy for 2 minutes, then dab it on the affected area. Let the composition action for 5 minutes, then wash your skin with lukewarm water. Repeat the procedure two times every day.

A mask applied on the affected area not only manages to reduce the skin inflammation, but it also leaves the skin soft and moisture. Use one of these suggestions.

Cucumber

Grind 1 peeled cucumber, then combine it with 3 tbsp. of cold milk. Store the resulting paste for 1h in the fridge, then take a cotton swab and dip it in the remedy. Place the cotton swab on your skin and let the remedy rest for 10 minutes before removing it and rinsing the skin with water.

The content of vitamin C speeds up the healing process, reducing the irritation.

Aloe Vera

Combine 1 tbsp. of honey with 2 tbsp. of Aloe Vera and apply the resulting composition over the affected area. Let it sit for 15 minutes, then rinse your skin with tepid water. You can follow the procedure two times per week.

Aloe Vera has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, helping you get rid of ingrown hairs.

Aspirin

Dilute 2 uncoated aspirin tablets in 1 tsp of tepid water, then add 1 tsp of honey. Mix the ingredients well and apply the resulting paste on your skin. Let the mask rest up to 15 minutes, then remove it with lukewarm water. Repeat twice per week.

Aspirin has anti-inflammatory properties and removes the dead skin around the affected area.

Honey

Prepare a paste by mixing 2 tbsp. of honey with 1 tbsp. of fresh lemon juice. Spread the composition on the affected area, then let it sit for 20 minutes. Remove with cold water and repeat two times in a week.

Due to its anti-bacterial properties, honey can reduce inflammation and kill the bacteria that grows around the affected area and leads to the swelling of the skin.

Massage is a method usually recommended for people who have ingrown hairs due to a dry skin. The oils used for this remedy will hydrate and moist the skin, helping the hair break to the surface.

Coconut oil

Famous for many skin issues, coconut oil nourishes in depth the skin and restores the pH level. At the same time, it creates a barrier against bacteria and other impurities that may also lead to inflammations.

Heat several drops of coconut oil and combine it with tea tree oil. Use the composition to massage the affected area and create a perfect environment for the hair to grow. Use the remedy after every hair removal.

Tea tree oil

This oil is a very healthy solution for ingrown hairs due to its anti-bacterial, healing and anti-inflammatory properties. The perfect remedy.

All you need to do is pour 4 drops of tea tree oil in 1 tbsp. of olive oil and massage your skin with this oil mixture for 5 minutes. Leave the remedy action for another 15 minutes, then rinse your skin with tepid water.

Coffee

Coffee hydrates the skin and cleans it from impurities.

Prepare a paste by mixing 1 tsp of olive oil with 4 tbsp. of coffee powder and 1 cup of tepid water. Apply the resulting paste on the affected area and massage for a couple of minutes before washing your skin with warm water.

Other remedies to get rid of ingrown hairs

Masks, scrubs or massages are not the only methods through which you can get rid of ingrown hairs. There are other ones that will have the same benefits:

Egg membrane. Even if no one uses this part of the egg, it can pull out the ingrown hair. Just apply it over the inflamed area and let it get dry (up to 15 minutes). When you will pull it away, the hair will be removed as well.

Compresses. Applying a cloth dipped in hot water on the affected area for 15 minutes will make the skin soft and allow the hair to get out. Just repeat the process several times, soaking every time the cloth in water.

Benzoyl peroxide. This substance will help your hair come out if you decide to use it repeatedly. All that needs to be done is to apply it directly on the skin in order to reduce the swelling.

Tweezers. In some cases, the head of the ingrown hair is on the skin surface. In these cases, you can use the tweezers to pull it out. Just make sure you sanitize them before.

Prevention

Since natural remedies can only help after the problem is installed why not take measures and try to prevent it from happening. Here are some tips you could follow to prevent the hair from growing under the skin.

  • After shaving, always apply something cold on the area to prevent irritation. You can also use Aloe Vera. It calms the skin.
  • When you shave, make sure you use a sharp single-bladed razor.
  • Never shave in the opposite direction of your hair growth. On the contrary, see how the hair grows.
  • Try to let more time pass between the shavings.
  • Avoid tight clothes as they can lead to skin irritation.
