How to Whiten Your Teeth with Activated Charcoal

The persons who smoke and drink a lot of coffee (but not only them) may be looking for a non-invasive way of whitening their teeth. Here’s a solution for them: activated charcoal. It is a kind of coal that was processed with zinc or calcium chloride and oxygen. These chemical processes purify it, making it safe for medical use – but also as a helper in beauty-related questions.

The activated charcoal attracts certain compounds found in the stains that coffee and food cause. The results will be visible in quite short time, approximately few weeks, depending on how affected your teeth are. It is a cheap and easy enough method for whitening your teeth. More than that, it is safe and does not damage the enamel.

Activated charcoal has a single disadvantage: it will stain your clothes, if you do not pay attention when using it and you will also have to clean your sink after brushing your teeth with charcoal.

That’s why, apart from a toothbrush and the charcoal, you also need a cup – to spit the charcoal into.

How to do it:

After brushing your teeth as usually, wet the toothbrush, put it on a paper towel, pour the content of an activated charcoal capsule on it and brush your teeth with it for a few minutes. In order not to stain the sink, as we previously said, spit in a cup, and then rinse your mouth until you get rid of all the black residues in it.

An alternative could be the use of charcoal brush, which is specially designed for teeth whitening. It will not only whiten the teeth, but also prevent bad breath and remove plaque.
